Learn & Embody — a Community of Belief & Practice.
Jesus said, “You are my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings” and “Everyone then who HEARS these words of mine and DOES them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock”.
We believe the way of Jesus is exactly that (hearing and doing, not just hearing), We seek to build our lives through ongoing rhythms of LEARNING and EMBODYING the way of Jesus while being led and empowered by the HOLY SPIRIT.
“Whoever claims to live in Jesus must live as Jesus did.” - 1 John 2:6
Community vision.
Learning and Embodying the Way of Jesus.
As we embody the teachings of Jesus, our lives will bring glory to God and believe it will change the spiritual and social landscape of our community and everyday spaces of life. Our community is formed around three cornerstones:
1. With Jesus
Belief:
Jesus is always with us. We can live in constant connection with Jesus. Abiding in his presence in every moment.
Practice:
We build our lives around the spiritual rhythms & disciplines of Jesus: fasting, the scriptures, praying, breaking bread, and gathering together for worship & teaching.
2. New Family
Belief:
Jesus’ vision for humanity is to live as children of God in the family of God. Jesus calls those within this new family “brothers and sisters”. This is the church: New family.
Practice:
We practice new family by understanding our past, learning our God given identity, expressing our gifts, and loving one another through humility, peace, and unity.
3. Salt & Light
Belief:
To be salt and light we must be in the world like Jesus was in the world. We, like Jesus are here for the purpose of His Kingdom come in our world as it is in heaven. We choose to believe that embodying the way of Jesus is true, and works in the world.
Practice:
We practice this by living as a tangible gospel presence though proximity, consistency, solidarity with those outside the walls and seeking the presence of God to move in the city.
We Believe.
Foundational Creed
For the Glory of God. We learn and embody the way of Jesus. Led by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is the Word of God
The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and is the final authority for Christian faith and living.
There is one true God who exists eternally as three Persons
God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and has revealed himself to be perfect in love, righteous in all His ways, and Creator of all things.
Jesus Christ is God’s Eternal Son
As true God and true man, He allowed Himself to be born of a virgin, taught men how to live by the example of His sinless life, was crucified as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, was seen by over 500 persons, returned to Heaven to prepare a place for us, and is coming again to judge all men.
Men and Women were created in the image of God
Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, were tempted by Satan, and rebelled against God, thus causing all men to fall under condemnation. Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven of our sins, reborn by the Holy Spirit, and we become children of God.
The Holy Spirit is eternal God and third person of the Trinity
Persuades us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus as Lord. He lives in us, teaches us, enables us to live godly lives and to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God.
The Church is the living body of Christ on Earth
Jesus is the Head of the Church and the source of its life. The Body is composed of those who have received Him as Savior and Lord and are committed to one another, existing to celebrate the life of God, cultivate personal growth in Christ, care about one another in Christ, and communicate the gospel of Christ to the world.
Jesus Christ will return to establish His Kingdom
Jesus Christ will return to earth to raise the dead, judge all humanity, and establish His glorious Kingdom. When he returns all believers will receive a new glorified body fit for eternal living. This is the hope of the Church. Those who have been reborn by the Spirit will live with and serve Him forever.
